New ‘Brote’ in Salobreña

SAL View from the SeaThe Mayor of Salobreña, María Eugenia Rufino, announced yesterday morning that there had been a marked increase in contagion within the municipality.

The number of individual cases has yet to be ascertained but it is thought that they are the result of a private party comprising of around 20 people.

She made this announcement after having met with the Provincial Delegate for Health for the Junta de Andalucía, Indalecio Sánchez and consequently the medical authorities have since begun tracing any contacts that those infected at the party might since have had.

“We shall continue to keep the general public informed about this worrisome affair, which if confirmed, will complicate things for the municipality,” said, Mayor Rufino. She also appealed to her fellow Salobreñeros to exercise their individual responsibilities so that the pandemia in the municipality can be controlled.

She concluded by reminding everybody that family or social gatherings are limited under these present conditions to a maximum of six persons.

The Junta de Andalucía recommended restricting social and family gatherings within our region to just six at the end of September after it was established that 80% of new cases had their origins traced to these kinds of gatherings. This happened at the same time as shutting down the municipality of Casariche (Sevilla) with a ratio of 4,545 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

We covered this in an article back on the 29th of last month 😉

Six at a social gathering? I thought we could have up to 10 people? Have I missed an announcement?
