At the beginning of this week two women had to be rescued from an off-road buggy above Torrox after it left the track and rolled down a barranco.
The accident occurred on Monday around 20.00h in the Calaceite area, which is at the eastern end of the municipality of Torrox.
The two women, both aged 21 and from Alicante, who were participating in an organised excursion, had to be freed from the wreckage after rolling down a 200m slope.
The fire service, Torrox municipal police and an ambulance all responded to the emergency call out. One of the victims suffered a fractured leg whilst the other woman’s injuries were less severe.
Both occupants had to be carried by stretcher up the steep slope to the waiting ambulance, after which they were taken to the Hospital Comarcal de la Axarquía, in Vélez-Málaga.
