The driver and passengers of a car that was left dangling over a drop were very luck people, indeed. Fire personnel were able to rescue all five people without further injury.
The accident occurred near Cervera de Pisuerga, which is located in the province of Palencia, (Castile and León), around 19.30h on Thursday.
When the fire service and Guardia Civil arrived at the scene it was to see the partially ripped out, metal crash barrier hooked on to the car, preventing it from sliding off the side of the bridge – but for how long, was the question.
First they had to secure the car and then get the driver and four passengers out – any weight variation in the balance of the car could have sent it over, hence the first task.
The 20-year-old driver from Bizkaia was breathalysed, who gave a positive reading. Consequently he is facing charges of reckless driving and driving under the influence.
