The Junta hasn’t confirmed new outbreaks of Coronavirus on the Costa Tropical but does say that there has been a rise in ‘isolated cases.’ However, the sixth outbreak has been discovered with five more people infected.
Yesterday, Andalucía added another 31 cases to its total with 13 people infected in the province of Granada, three of whom are in Motril. This brings Motril’s total since the pandemic began to 12.
Despite these new cases the Junta does not classify them as a new outbreak but simply an increase in the number of isolated cases; specifically, the four new cases of contagion in the last seven days.
According to the Junta’s figures Granada has accumulated 103 cases in the last 14 days, 70 of which correspond to this last week.

Editorial comment: walking around the centre of Motril yesterday it was heartening to see just about everybody was wearing masks; from the elderly to teens. On the other hand, last Friday one reader reported that Al Campo was packed, hardly anybody was wearing masks, with groups wandering along the aisle together, many were youngsters.
It would be easy to assume (but not necessarily correctly) that the people coming down to the coast for the weekend are not taking the health situation as seriously as the permanent residents of Motril. An erroneous conclusion perhaps, but food for thought, nevertheless.
