New Residency Cards: TIE

The Ambassador explains that the Spanish government is introducing a new residency document for those UK nationals who are protected by the Withdrawal Agreement – the Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero or TIE.

Instructions are still being issued and the exact details won’t be known before it is published on the Spanish Goverment’s website: www.lamoncloa.gob.es

Some readers have a green, A4 certificate, others have the green- credit-card-sized version. It appears you won’t have to change them in for the new TIE for the moment; in other words it’s not obligatory.
