Tourist Offices Reopen

ALM Tourist Information OfficeAlmuñécar Councillor for Tourism, Daniel Barbero, participated in a simple, reopening ceremony at the main Tourist Information Office. The town’s Tourist Information offices have been closed to the public for the last three months.

To be able to reopen, Almuñécar had had to submit a contingency plan to the Ministerio de Industria, Comercio y Turismo and get it approved.

Some of the measures involve less printed information and more electronic formats, especially the use of QR codes. Just about all of the print outs on display have a QR code on the cover so a tourist need only scan the code to have access to all the available information in PDF format on their smart phone.

Councillor Daniel Barbero explained that they have also set up a Whatapp number (628 492 693). Users will find information in Spainish, English and French. The number will be ‘manned’ between 09.30h & 13.30h and 17.00h & 19.30h.

Access to the main Tourist Information Office, the Palacete de La Najarra, is restricted to a maximum of two people at any one time – the rest will have to wait in a queue, whilst maintaining the stipulated safety distance of 1.5 metres.

The following opening times are valid until the 30th of this month, which is when the summer opening times come in:

Palacete de La Najarra: Monday to Sunday, 09:30h to 13:30h and then 17.00h to 19:30h.
Paseo Altillo Kiosk: Wednesday to Sunday, 09:30h to 13:30h and then 17.00h to 19:30h.
La Herradura Office: Monday to Friday 09.30h to 14.00h
