The Almuñécar fire service was called out to a road accident on the N-340 bridge over the Barranco de Enmedio.

The car had hit the crash barrier on the bridge and turned over, coming to rest with its wheels in the air. No other vehicles were involved.

Despite the state of the car and the difficulty involved in extracting the driver from the wreck, the 66-year-old driver was lucky in so much as the crashbarrier had prevented the car from ending up at the bottom of the barranco.

The Guardia Civil are investigating the accident, which took place around midnight last night.
