The Guardia Civil arrested an Almuñécar man for allegedly breaking into a shop and making off with 70-odd items of stock.
The 41-year-old suspect reportedly made off with 30 sunglasses, 10 sweatshirts, 20 purses and 10 baseball caps of a well-know brand.
The break in occurred around two in the morning of the 2nd of June. A neighbour heard the noise made when the suspect smashed the shop window in order to grab the goodies and phoned the shopkeeper, who in turn alerted the Guardia Civil.
They arrived later in the early morning and were inspecting the crime scene when the now arrested man approached the shop from a nearby street. Upon seeing the Guardia Civil officers he turned tail and hurried off but the police caught up with him.
Whilst questioning him they noticed that he was wearing a pair of sunglasses (at this early hour) of the kind stolen from the shop. Given his suspicious actions and the glasses in his possession, he was invited to accompany them to the Guardia post.
At present the police are investigating whether he had acted alone or had an accomplice and where the rest of the booty had ended up. The detained man had already been arrested on the 19th of May for breaking into a parked car.
