The Vice-PM for the Junta de Andalucía insists that all eight provinces of Andalucía move over to Phase Two on the 25th of May, even though two provinces are lagging behind.
The fact is that for Granada and Málaga to carry out a fortnight in Phase One, they won’t be ready until the 1st of June. The two week period is based on the virus’s incubation period – only one week will not be indicative of whether the increased mobility of the population has caused an elevated contagion figure.
For this reason the Health Minister, Salvador Illa, stated that unless there are exceptional circumstances, provinces must spend two weeks during each phase.
The Vice-PM, Sr. Marín, counters that Andalucía has been complying with the parameters and that therefore all the Andalusian provinces are in condition to cross over at the same time.
And this is where it gets political because the PP-C’s Regional Government says, “We hope that the PSOE Central Government doesn’t get it wrong again,” implying that the decision to keep Málaga and Granada back had been a mistake.
The Junta Spokesperson, Elías Bendodo, said, “we are not going to accept anybody imposing a 2-speed Andalucía, other than for justify health criteria.”
It is clear that the Junta wants there to be no health boundaries within Andalucía when the 25th of May comes, so that people can move freely around the region.
