The Maintenance Department of Almuñécar Town Hall has provided a spot of vega lighting on the lanes behind the N-340 gasolinera… And they’re solar powered!

These lanes form a circuit through the vega and are very popular for those who enjoy an easy stroll in the cool of the evening or the first hours of daylight. In winter, of course if you are restricted to early or late walks, you’ll end up walking in the dark.

So far they have installed five lampposts, each providing 35 watts of link each, explained the department Head, Beatriz González Orce.

Another advantage with using solar lighting is that you don’t have to run cabling beneath the road surface out to your furthest lamppost. And of course, there is the savings on the municipal electricity bill, all for around 5,000 euros for the material and installation.

Not bad!
