The Almuñécar fire service was called out in the early hours of Sunday morning to extinguish a fire that was consuming a parked car.

They received the alert at 02.30h in the morning to say that the front of a parked car was ablaze in front of Edificio Auramar in the Cuesta Godoy area of town, explained the Councillor for Citizen Safety, Francisco Robles.

As the flames were quite high there was a danger that it could affect the facade of the block of flats, so the fire personnel had their work cut out for them for over an hour and a half, using foam and water. By the time that the fire was put out, the vehicle was a complete write off.

The Policía Local are now investigating how the fire began to ascertain if there was arson involved.
