It’s just coming through now in a televised announcement that Granada and Málaga will remain at Stage Zero – no Stage One for Monday.
The Junta had tried to have parts of Granada categorised differently to the rest of the province; Costa Tropical, La Alpujarra and North-Eastern Granada (Altiplano) could go ahead, leaving the city and western Granada (La Vega and El Poniente) behind, but the Minister of Health stuck to a province being a single unit.
The result is that bars and restaurants won’t be able to use their terraces and many have been preparing for a Monday reopening. You won’t be able to visit the homes of relatives and you can’t travel outside your municipality, as has been the case up to now.
The other six provinces of Andalucía have moved forward to Stage One.
Does this mean that we’re stuck in Stage Zero for the next two weeks? No,fortunately. The Head of Health Emergencies, who has been the face of all health announcements since the beginning, Fernando Simón, said that the evolution in Málaga and Granada is very good and that the decision could be revised in a few days.

Jack: one of the reasons given by the medical spokesman for the Government was a lack of abidance to rules governing being out of the house; this is something that will be re-evaluated for next Monday. Let’s hope that those who have been behaving irresponsibly make amends… otherwise we’re stuck a Stage Zero.
What is the official reason for such a turnaround please?
You can only leave your municipality under exceptional circumstances, such as a doctor’s appointment, for example and you have to have written justification to show to the police should you be stopped. In other words, things stay as they were – sorry!
Can you still drive from Salobrena to Almunecar or motril from Monday
