Last Minute Changes

SPN JoggingLast night saw some adjustment of the timetable that governs who can leave their homes and at what times, as well as business conditions.

For instance the 30% occupancy on bar terraces starting on the 11th has been raised directly to 50%. Furthermore, the 50% occupancy now extends to inside the premises, too. There had been considerable criticism because operating on only 30% on the terraces and no access to inside seating was simply not viable, economically speaking, for most businesses

Also there is now a maximum of 10 persons gathering at home during family visits during Stage One; i.e., from the 11th.

Concerning the timetable for leaving your home to practice sport or simply have a stroll, etc, the Ministry of Public Health has now clarified that there is no time limitation whilst you’re out within the permitted timetable; i.e., people practicing outside sports can be out the full four hours in the morning and the three hours in the evening (06.00h to 10.00h & 20.00h to 23.00h). People of 70 or over have the full use of their two hours in the morning and the one hour in the evening (10.00h to 12.00h & 19.00 to 20.00h)

Kids, however remain restricted to just one hour between 12.00h to 19.00h. Before they could spend this one hour between 09.00 and 21.00h, so their timetable has actually been reduced.

Another doubt clarified concerns people practicing sports (running & jogging, etc) having to wear surgical masks. It remains only “recommended” and not “obligatory.”

Finally, the wearing of surgical masks is now obligatory on public transport. The Government will be making six million of them available at transport hubs (bus stations etc) all over the country as well as making another seven million available to local authorities.

Dear Bob Norris: Just heard back from the Councillor – no, no angling off the beaches in Almuñécar. In Salobreña nobody is allowed on the beaches, full stop, and in Motril, it is probably the same as Almuñécar; no angling from the beach.

Dear Sandra Mihlenstedt: I live in Otivar and have been able to go down to Almuñécar for an appointment at a vet, twice and that was before things started to open up. All you need is to contact your doctor or vet and request an appointment and send you email confirmation. Print it out and carry with you if stopped

Dear Bob Norris: As far as we can tell, in Almuñécar and Motril the use of beaches is restricted to activities in motion; i.e. jogging, walking, surfing, kayaking, etc. However, sitting or lying on the beach, which entails remaining in one spot, are not permitted. Using this logic, angling would come under the latter; i.e., not permitted on beaches. In fact, you can’t go swimming either, which seems a contradiction. We will check with the Almuñécar Councillor for Citizen Safety.

As far as Salobreña goes, beaches remain off limits to everybody.

Don’t suppose you know if “outside sports” includes fishing from the beach (alone)”?

You mentioned for the over 70 age group 2hrs in morning 10-12pm and 2hrs evening 7pm -8pm. Thats only 1 hour. Is this correct ?
