Two homeless men who were being temporarily housed in the Palacio de los Deportes in Granada have died within 24 hours.
The first man was found yesterday morning at 10.00h when staff checked his bed after he had failed to get up. The second victim, aged 52, wasn’t actually found inside but on the Paseo del Emperador Carlos V, which passes next to the Palacio de Deportes, around 18.00h. He had been staying there, however, and was out for the day.
Their autopsies will clarify the causes of death and see if there is any connection between the two deaths. One theory is that both men consumed a drug that turned out to be lethal owing to the state that it was in.
This temporary shelter for the homeless houses 130 people, who besides receiving somewhere warm and dry to sleep, also receive breakfast and dinner everyday.
