An elderly man was injured when pieces of the roof that overhangs his balcony fell, striking him on the head.

The incident took place yesterday morning in a house on the Otívar road where it passes through Torrecuevas.

Both a fire engine and a Policía Local unit were sent to the scene of the accident. When they arrived it was to find the man with slight injuries so they called in an ambulance to take him to the Medical Centre for treatment and a thorough check up.

In the meantime, the fire personnel set about bringing down unstable sections of the overhang whilst the police directed the traffic around the fire engine as the house is actually on the roadside.
