Staff at Hospital Santa Ana in Motril yesterday lined the entrance to A&E to pay homage to the nurse who has just died in Granada’s general hospital.
The middle-aged woman was a staff supervisor at Santa Ana but had been off sick some time owing to an illness only to then catch COVID-19 and succumbed to it.
The Mayor of Motril, Luisa García Chamorro, wanted to join this standing ovation but sent a message of support to the victim’s colleagues, family and friends.
A convoy of police vehicles also arrived and parked with their sirens on and lights flashing whilst the occupants alighted and applauded, too. However, this demonstration of support for the town’s medical staff is repeated each evening at 20.00h.
