Both the Guardia Civil and the Policía Local in Almuñécar were busy yesterday sending people back to their homes after being caught infringing the quarantine.
It was in the Velilla and San Cristóbal areas where most people were stopped, either on bicycles or on foot, most of whom were foreigner couples.
Meanwhile, over in La Herradura, the beaches were empty as were the streets. The few people out and about were on their way to, or coming from, bakeries, newsagents, pharmacies, tobacconists or ATMs.
When the police decide to start fining, transgressors are looking at fines of between 100 and 600 euros. However the highest fine reserved for the worse cases of disobedience could reach 60,000 euros or even more.
