Two stray dogs attacked a couple inside the municipal-morgue enclosure yesterday morning around 11.00h. Apparently, the dogs, which come from a nearby farm, attacked the man, biting him on the leg. His wife was also bitten.
The couple, who are in their 50s, were taken to Hospital Santa Ana to have their injuries treated and an anti-rabies jab, to be on the safe side.
A police patrol was diverted from their rounds to the morgue (Tanatorio) and chased the dogs off with their police truncheons. After taking the couple to the hospital they began to search the nearby streets for the animals
They finally managed to trap one and read its microchip before placing it in the municipal dog compound.
The Councillor for Citizen Safety, María Ángeles Escámez, pointed out that lately a pack of dogs had been seen around the Rambla de Los Álamos area.
