The Hotel El Fuerte project in La Herradura is back on the cards again with its four stars and 250 rooms.
The hotel chain bought the plot on the Paseo de Andrés Segovia in 2000 and even managed to get approval from the Comisión Provincial de Urbanismo (CPU) in 2006 but not much has happened since then on the 20,000-sq/m plot, thanks to the economic crisis in the meantime.
According to the Councillor for Tourism, Daniel Barbero, it is positive that the hotel chain wants to restart the project a decade later but points out that they want a different design, along the lines of a bungalow format.
“They want to do a different project to the one they originally submitted but the Town Hall will help the development as it benefits La Herradura,” he explained,
The said councillor also says that he is very satisfied after meeting with a developer group in the tourist fair in Madrid (Fitur) concerning a possible golf course in Valle Río Verde
As for the 7-star hotel, Bahí Fenicia, (the first in Spain) the project remains stalled. According to the Mayor Trinidad Herrera, there is no official sign that this situataion will change.
