The Galleon Returns

MOT Galleon VisitThe replica galleon, Andalucía arrived yesterday evening at Motril Port after leaving Málaga earlier in the day.

You’ll have to wait until tomorrow to visit it because visiting tours begin on the 30th and conclude on the 2nd of next month; in other words, from this Thursday to Sunday.

It was built between 2009 and 2010 and is a life-sized replica of the Spanish galleons that plied the seas and oceans in the 17th Century.

Measuring 55 metres in length and boasting four masts, this piece of sailing history can spread 930 sq/m of sail with the right wind conditions. When you visit the ship you will be allowed on all five decks and can find out all about the routes that this class of ship used to sail

The Thursday and Friday are reserved mostly for group visits from school kids, etc, so aim for the Saturday. There is no information at the moment about how much it costs or how to book, but it might be just a  case of turning up and joining the queue.
