Soggy Saturday

ALM FloodingWell yesterday was not a day to venture out in all along the Costa Tropical, with streets in Almuñécar and Salobreña boasting boating-lake-size puddles.

Of course, compared to Málaga, the rainfall has been negligible here  but even so, it has caused circulatory problems as far as traffic goes.

In the case of Salobreña, the Pontanilla presented its eternal tendency to flood but it wasn’t only there but also along Juan XXIII, Calle Rosario, Avenida Federico García Lorca and over in the trading estate on the other side of the main road.

SAL Pontanilla Flooding CerezoThe water all drained away in the end without causing any real damage, which makes a change.

However, the biggest headache caused by the rain was the rockfall between Hotel Miba and the Caleta junction on the N-340 (the one without traffic lights). It took four hours, more or less, to remove the boulder and smaller rocks before normal traffic could be resumed.

Over in Almuñécar and La Herradura the fire service was called out to deal with flooded areas, including along the Paseo de Velilla, the Rambla de Caballero (Taramay) and even the Cuesta de Godoy (Velilla).
