The Guardia Civil are investigating a local from Moaña for animal cruelty after it became known that a woman amputated her dog’s leg.
Several neighbours contacted the police after they came across a dog walking with difficulty along the Playa de la Junquera in Moaña.
A report by the Guardia Civil environmental department, SEPRONA read that these passersby had restrained the dog because they were afraid that it would get knocked down on the nearby road.
When they looked under the bandage of the stump, they saw that it had been done recently and in a fashion that didn’t look as if it had been done by a veterinary surgeon, judging by the inflammation and the crude bandage.
The police read the animals implanted chip and tracked the owner down, who upon questioning admitted to having carried out the amputation herself as it had an injured front leg.
The unfortunate animal was handed over to the Protectora de Animais do Morrazo who called in a vet to treat the dog.
