A British tourist drowned in the Puerto Marina in Benalmádena on Friday. The 54-year-old man from Bolton had been staying in a hotel there in that town.
The man, who had been travelling with a group, became separated from the rest, who soon noticed his absence.
As the holiday finished that same day and they all had to get back to the hotel, and being unable to find him, they contacted the Policía Nacional.
The body was found floating in the water in the early morning of Friday by a man who had come to the marina to take his boat out for the day. The victim was found without his T-shirt and cuts and grazes in the area of his chest and arms, which he probably caused to himself, trying to pull himself out of the water up onto the dock.
The body was taken to the Instituto de Medicina Legal (IML) in Málaga, where it was determined after an autopsy that he had died from drowning.
This is not the first case of a death in these circumstance because apparently another man had died this way but in the Puerto de Banus just a week earlier.
