The old section of the N-340 that goes around the Cerro Gordo tunnel in La Herradura is finally getting some new tarmac.
The First Councillor for La Herradura, Juan José Ruiz Joya together with representatives of the company that is going to carry it out signed the deal that would see 1.5km of new tarmac laid.
Apart from the Restaurante El Mirador along this old section of the main road, there are also two urbanizaciones up there: El Chino and El Nogal.
With a budget of 130,000 euros the work was planned to conclude before the end of November, but you might want to take a look up there and see if that is the case. After all, it is a lovely stretch of road with stunning views of the coastline. Driving along there takes you back to how it used to be in the 70’s before the present N-340 was came about.
