The Plenary Meeting of the Motril Town Council yesterday approved the expansion of plastic greenhouses within the municipality, amongst other points.
The motion to modify the standing PGOU was passed after being initially approved in July 2018 and having passed the period of public scrutiny without any objections submitted.
However, this is just the start of a long road leading to its necessary approval before a whole host of other administrations on a provincial and regional level.
Contained within the agricultural-sector modification was also the control over the size of casetas de riego and almacenes agrícolas (aperos) as well as the norms concerning open, water reservoirs and irrigation tanks. The mention of aperos is interesting because many people build rural dwellings under the guise of aperos.
Amongst other points approved at the meeting was the one to disolve the Organismo Autónomo Local de Recaudación Ciudad de Motril as of the 31st of December, 2019. This tax-collection entity was created on the 20th of December 1990.
It permited Motril to collect its own taxes, but has been found to be inefficient, so they are now going to sign up the provincial tax office that collects local taxes in the name of each municipality and hands it over to the respective town hall. Almuñécar had its own tax office switched over to the provincial, tax-office system a year or so ago for the same reasons.
Finally, a motion put forward by Izquierda Unida-EQUO to better control the proliferation of gambling establishments and online gambling, which was unanimously supported and approved.
