María Eugenia Rufino, the Mayor of Salobreña, has told the Junta that the construction of a new medical centre is “undelayable.”
This is what she told the Provincial Delegate for the Andalusia Health Board, Indalecio Sánchez at a meeting, where other municipality-related topics were also discussed.
This was her first meeting with the said Junta representative since the Junta changed hands and is now run by conservative, coalition government.
The meeting had been requested by the Mayor to find out how the said project was going, which comprises of a new building next to the Parque de la Fuente II. The result of the meeting is that it is waiting for somebody to be charged with drawing it up.
The Mayor also expressed her concern that this location might be changed, as the previous Junta representative under the socialists had hinted at. Such a change would entail yet more delays.
Lastly, she also mentioned that the present medical centre has “deficiencies” despite recent renovation work which failed to provide sufficient space for a town of Salobreña’s size.
