The Guardia Civil in Almuñécar have arrested two young, Moroccan men, accused of a mugging near the football
stadium.
The two suspects, aged 18 and 19, allegedly carried out the mugging during the early hours of the 20th near the said sports facilities.
The victim was on his way home when the accused approached him from behind, one of whom grabbed him around his neck, trying to throttle him enough to leave him unconscious; something they did not achieve but it did not stop them reportedly making off with his wallet and mobile phone.
A relative found him and alerted the Guardia Civil. A patrol car was soon there and took the victim to the Medical Centre for a check up, where a case of cervicalgia (neck pain) was diagnosed.
Both suspects were arrested the next day and are to appear before a magistrate.
