Nacla Fire Suspects charge

MOT Nacla Fire Helicopter July 2019The regional police belonging to the Junta de Andalucía have tracked down two people, thought to be responsible for the recent fire in the Cortijo de la Nacla area. They have been charged with causing a forest fire through negligence.

The fire, which broke out on the 13th and gobbled up 1.24 hectares, started next to the Gorgorocha road around 12.20h but was put out by 19.00h thanks to the rapid response of Infoca.

The regional police, in conjunction with the Motril fire service and forestry experts from the Junta, determined that the fire was a result of a build up of plastic waste from nearby greenhouses.

It was lucky that Infoca tackled the fire with all it had before it ate into the pine forest around that area, whose presence make that winding road such a panoramic route.
