The Almuñécar fire service was deployed to put out a fire in a bar on Plaza Kelibia Wednesday evening.
The fire was reported at 20.30h in the well known bar, Análisis Clínico, and was due to an overload in a freezer plug. Apart from the plentiful smoke coming off the burning varnish on the wooden ceiling beams, the damage was limited, explained the Spokesperson for the fire service.
“As a consequence of the short circuit, the freezer motor was burnt out, as well as a nearby bar stool,” he explained adding that the copious smoke had hampered attempts to get at the source of the fire until breathing equipment was put into use.
A high-powered ventilator was also used to clear the smoke afterwards.
The end result was only material damage and a bit of a scare for neighbours.
