The Policía Nacional, the Catalán regional police and the Polish police managed to arrest a Polish hitman in Málaga in a combined operation.
The man, who had strong connections with organised crime on the Costa del Sol, had a criminal record including kidnapping, GBH and drug trafficking.
When he was arrested he was carrying a bag with over 100,000 euros inside plus another 1,000 pounds sterling.
Police investigations began in March after being tipped off by the Polish police that he had entered Spain. The Poles had reliable information that he was here to carry out a kidnapping of a man from a rival gang. He had landed in Barcelona, accompanied by three compatriots and had made their way to the province of Málaga.
The Policía Nacional arrested him on the 20th as soon as he stepped off the train at Málaga, after being informed by the Catalán regional police which train he was travelling on.
He is being remanded in custody whilst his extradiction is being arranged.
