Pago de Guerra Romería

LHR Romeria Pago de GuerraSick and tired of religious processions? No? Masochist! Well, here’s something for you because La Herradura has a Romeria on Saturday!

Now the main difference between an Easter procession and a Romería is that the latter ends with participants eating lots of indigestion-guaranteed sausages (morcilla/chorizo) and plenty of rocket-fuel, country wine. The Easter processions, on the other hand, ends with the national anthem and “good night everybody; now bugger off home.”

Now, the XIX Romería de Nuestra Señora de Fátima y Sagrado Corazón de Jesús belongs to the hinterland hamlet of El Pago de Guerra, which lies to the north of La Herradura. It will take place on Saturday the 27th of April.

The romeria procession leaves at 11.00h from the Hermita de Pago de Guerra arriving in time for the church service at 13.00h on the Era del Cortijo Cabrera, followed by a guitar concert by local guitarist, Miguel de Carmen.

Once that’s over with, out comes the burping calories and jelly-leg juice.

Enjoy, you reckless fools!
