A car passenger recorded with his phone camera a woman travelling on an autovía using an electric scooter… and wearing headphones, to boot.
It is forbidden to ride mopeds, bicycles and horses on autopistas/autovías, whose minimum speed is 60 kph, so the idea of taking a electric scooter onto a dual-carriage way is most certainly a no-no.
The incident, which occurred last Friday, took place on the autovía CV-35 (Valencia-Ademuz) and the stretch that she was using usually supports a heavy traffic flow with three lanes in each direction.
The car passenger whatsapped the images to the DGT, who examined them and sent out a patrol car. Shortly afterwards a second patrol car on duty closer to Valencia saw the same scooter rider on the CV-30 (Ronda Norte de Valencia). The woman was still using music headphones.
They pulled her over, asked her for ID and fined mercilessly to the sum of 1,100 euros.
