Bangers for Patrol Cars

SAL Police Car being TowedThe Independent Police Union for Granada (SIPLG) have denounced the fact that Salobreña’s patrol cars have no vehicle insurance.

Well, they have of sorts because one car is insured in the name of a lady living in Almuñécar and the other by a transport company.

Furthermore, these cars have had to be recovered by a tow-truck on three occasions in the last 30 days.

“This clearly shows the insulting precarity under which our personnel work,” said the union spokesperson.

What’s more, according to the union the Mayor is not telling the truth (gasp!) and has been drawing this situation out for four years, claiming, in some instances, that “the new cars were on the way” and on other occasions claiming, “that there are no funds for one.”

What the police union would like to hear from the Mayor is why she spent 200,000 euros of public funds on promoting a film (Bernarda) when Salobreña only appeared for a total of 45 seconds during the entire film.

They would also like to know who spent the 60,000 euros set aside for the Policía Local from the municipal budget…
