Early yesterday morning a fire was reported in a warehouse belonging to a company, specialising in clearing blocked  drains.

The premises are located on Camino de la China, which is better known as the Cañón, running between Motril and Torrenueva Costa.

The Motril Councillor for Citizen Safety stated that the fire broke out around 07.00h, affecting the building itself as well as the lorry parked inside, which ended up completely burnt out. A nearby dwelling was also affected but to a much lesser degree.

She pointed out that nobody was hurt, thanks to a neighbour phoning in and the quick response of the fire services to the call out. Fire personnel had the fire under control by 11.00h and afterwards a small detachment remained on site to dampen down the embers.

All told, seven firefighters, four fire engines, amongst them one equipped with an extendable ladder, took part.
