Missing Nerja Man Found

NRJ Missing GermanA German resident of Nerja, who had gone missing on the 12th of December, was found in Güéjar Sierra, victim of a car accident.

Peter Reansch, aged in his late 70s and a resident in Fuente del Badén, had left his home on that Wednesday at around 18.30h and still hadn’t returned that evening. His wife was very worried as he suffers from dementia.

She gave the police his description and details about his vehicle, a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Friends and family immediately started searching the nearby area.

Jump forward to yesterday, the 15th around 13.00h, when the Guardia Civil were tipped off by local hunters that a car had left the road in Güéjar Sierra, plunging some 40 to 50 metres down a hillside.

GRA Guejar Sierra Driver RescuedThe Guardia Civil and the fire service had difficulty reaching the sole occupant, who was trapped in the vehicle. Eventually, they managed to free the driver, who was suffering from hypothermia, from the wreckage and get him back up to the road where the ambulance was waiting.

The driver was an elderly German…and it turns out that it was the same gentleman who had disappeared in Nerja three days earlier.

What he had been doing for those three days or how or even when the accident had occurred is still not known, but at least Pete Reansch had been found alive, although in a serious condition.
