Immigrants Land in La Herradura

LHR Immigrants Land 01An open boat landed on La Herradura beach yesterday around 11.30h carrying immigrants from North Africa.

The occupants were all minors aged between 15 and 16, four of whom were later captured by the Guardia Civil. In the meantime and with the help of the Policía Local, the Guardia Civil have been searching the area for the other occupants, explained the First Councillor of La Herradura, Juan José Ruiz Joya.

The minors were first taken to the Almuñécar G.C. post and then to the Centro de Atención Temporal de Extranjeros (CATE) in Motril.

When they were questioned by the police they explained that they had been at sea for two days in a wooden open boat, some three metres long and with a 15-CV outboard motor.

This is the second open boat that has landed on beaches within the municipality of Almunecar, with the first landing on the Playa de San Cristóbal on the 29th of last month with 15 immigrants on board, all of whom were detained.
