SAL Mayor inspecting Plaza del LavaderoWork has finally begun on the Plaza del Lavadero in La Caleta (Salobreña). It was originally announced that it would commence in September.

The Mayor, María Eugenia Rufino, said that although the work had been approved during the summer, it was decided to wait until after the high season so as not to disrupt the hostelry sector.

Apart from sorting out the foundations, which had been undermined by the sea, the square’s surface will also be sorted out, as well as the perimeter wall. Furthermore, public lighting and street furniture will be renovated/replaced.

The work will take 45 days and cost around 200,000 euros.
