Naked Hiking

You will not only find naturists down on Cantarriján beach, but also walking about its surrounding hills, which is a new initiative.

The Asociación de Amigos de la Playa Nudista de Cantarriján intends to make plain the fact that this popular La Herradura beach is a naturist one by ‘pushing the frontiers,’ through organised nudist treks along  the cliff paths and the hills within the Paraje Natural de Maro-Cerro Gordo.

They feel that they are being forced out or even turned into a freak show by the Los Textil (their name for clothed bathers).

The group of naked hikers made their way over to Playa Cañuelo meeting hikers in normal attire along the way; encounters, they say, were without incident: some of those met along the way kept their eyes firmly on the ground, others expressed looks of surprised and some others even took photos, but there were no ‘incidents.’

The most rewarding part of the walk was when they reached Playa Cañuelo on the Málaga side of the park, where some bathers there, inspired by the sight, decided to strip off too, said the association’s Spokesperson, Pedro Pérez.

Once the winter has passed – nobody is that keen that they want to walk around naked in the cold – the walks will start up again.

Editorial comment: when I go for a walk in el monte, I always wear long trousers and boots as protection from the gorse and other unforgiving vegetation. You either have to be brave or reckless to do a walk like that without adequate clothing.
