La Herradura Bay Swim

LHR Bay Swim SP18A swimmer from Malaga, Alejandro Castaño Chacón, of the Fuengirola Swimming Club won the XIX La Herradura Across />the Bay Swim in the incredible time of 27 minutes and 48 seconds, and not a jellyfish in sight!

The local category was won for the men by Alfredo de Córdoba González and for the women, our very own Kimberly Harwood!

We managed to grab a quick word with Kim who explained that she came third in the women’s over 40 category and first in the local women’s category. With a time of 36 minutes and 8 seconds, Kim is very pleased with her effort, but we know she is capable of going a lot faster, “I didn’t get to train for the event at all this year, so my time was down on what it could have been. But next year… who knows?” she explained.

The event had nearly 200 competitors this year, with the oldest being Hermenegildo López (78 years) and Raúl Rodríguez (8 years) as the youngest. The whole shebang was organised by the Sports Council of Granada along with the Almuñécar Town Hall, and the Municipal Lifeguards, who were there in numbers throughout, need a well deserved mention as well.
