Motril’s MOT-21 Progress

MOT New roundabout Al CampoThe Motril Councillor for Public Works, Antonio Escámez, gave a press call on the development of the MOT-21; shopping centre near Al Campo.

He says that parts of its development have moved at “supersonic speed,” as can be seen, he says, by the new roundabout just before the Al Campo junction on the road leading in from the N-340 (the Candelón).

He went on to say that the businesses that intend to set up shop there should have their premises finished by the 31st of December. In fact, he considers that some businesses will hold their inaugurations by the end of November.

Burger King has already opened its doors and Decathlón (sports wear) and Mercadona will follow. There’s also a furniture shop, which is progressing more slowly.

The MOT-21 has a total area of 25,000 sq/m of which the only spare space is that which has been earmarked for a multi-cinema, but they’re still waiting for a company to come forward.

Finally, he had a good waffle about how, in the last election campaign, his party had promised this and that it would create local employment – some 100 jobs, he calculates, not including employment in the construction sector used on this shopping centre.
