The body of a woman was found in Maro, between the Eagle (Larios) aqueduct monument and the N-340 bridge on Tuesday the 28th.
The woman, thought to be of foreign nationality and around 30 years old, might have committed suicide by jumping from N-340 bridge, which spans the Barranco de Maro. The body bore no other injuries other than what might be expected from a fall of 50 metres.
The Policía Local and an ambulance was sent, although the latter was not needed and instead a funeral car took the body away around 12.00h after receiving judicial permission.
The whole recovery operation was hindered by the Vuelta de España, which passed along the N-340.
The Barranco de Maro is often inhabited by homeless people and new-age travellers, most of whom are foreign, in makeshift shelters and small caves.
