A 24-year-old man was arrested in Almuñécar last month for selling drugs from a cortijo that he was squatting in.

A woman went to the Guardia post to report that somebody was squatting in her cortijo in the Rio Seco area of the municipality.

So, the Guardia Civil went to the premises and found that the padlock on the gates leading to the cortijo had been broken, as well as the bars on the front door.

Furthermore, when they approached the dwelling they saw a man trying to hide something underneath a roof tile above the terrace.

They approached him, asked him for identification – it turns out that he has a criminal record – and then asked him to accompany them to where they had seen him trying to hide a small packet. When they removed the tile then found a small bag containing 10 packs of hashish and 11 of cocaine.

They also searched the man and found 1,045 euros in cash – presumably from drug sales – as well as a large clasp knife.
