Good news and bad news… the Vuelta de España cycling race will be passing through Almuñécar before heading up the old Cabra road to Granada. Yes, that’s good news for fans and bad news for everybody else.
The event organisers calculate that the cyclists should reach Cantarriján on the N340 around 14.00h on Tuesday the 28th and within 10 to 15 minutes reach La Herradura and Almuñécar.
From the main roundabout at the top of Almuñécar (large flag and fountain one) the cyclists will labour all the way up through Jete and Otivar until they reach the very top and cruise or more or less level road until they reach the Suspiro del Moro.
Which is fun news because it means that I, Martin, won’t be able to get out of my cortijo for several hours as the cabra road will be closed to traffic for the duration. Going to have to dig out that packet of thumb tacks…
