The indiscriminate dumping of household furniture and other items in Almuñécar and La Herradura is causing concern.

The Councillor for the Environment, Luis Aragón, says that the FCC cleaning company has noted an increase in this kind of dumping with the arrival of summer.

This is despite there being a weekly service to remove these items if citizens can be bothered to inform the Town Hall when residents have rubbish to be collected. Just phone 958 838 600 between 09.00h and 14.00h and tell them where to find it. You put the stuff out Thursday night and they collect it first thing Friday.

In La Herradura the number is to call is 958 640 425, again between 09.00h and 14.00h. This kind of rubbish is collected Wednesday morning so put it out Tuesday night.

Don’t forget that if you are caught dumping rubbish on roadsides etc, you stand to receive a hefty fine!
