The Policia Local in Motril now have bulletproof vests, which will not only protect them against firearms but also knife attacks.
From this week all 98 police officers are fitted out with them for when they are out patrolling. Up until now they only had two such vests in one of their patrol cars. The truth is that they have been after them for years, now, but funds have always been short.
The Councillor for Citizen Safety, Mari Ángeles Escámez, informed that the vests cost a total of 50,000 euros.
“These are latest generation vests that offer complete protection against bullets, knives and even stiletto-like weapons, which penetrate the most,” explained the Police Chief.
