Castle Criticism

SAL ariel castle OnLThe Salobreña opposition party, the PP, is not happy with how the governing party is running the castle.

According to the PP, the maintenance, cleaning, and safety structure is sadly lacking and those who are suffering the most from this, they claim, are the staff.

One of the female workers has been off sick for months, said the party Spokesman, Gustavo Aybar, and they hadn’t brought in a temporary replacement, preferring to put the full workload on the one remaining worker. By workload, he was referring to ‘being on the door collecting the entrance fees.’

He considers that the Mayor prefers to stick a patch on problems rather than fixing them.

“The worker hasn’t had a day off in weeks,” he said, “and on some occasions a department head has to stand in on the door whilst the worker carries out cleaning and weed clearing.”

How, he wondered, does the Mayor intend keeping the castle open seven days a week with only one worker? The worker can’t possible do everything from cleaning the toilets to keeping guard over the place, he laments.

“There’s no security, he says, not even to keep an eye on the newly restored baths area.”

And here, we’ll wind it up, although he still had plenty of complaints left to utter.

Editorial comment: without a doubt the said councillor would clearly give up his salary to employ a replacement worker to cover the temporary vacancy…
