We don’t know how many stolen cars make it across to Morocco via the Motril ferry, but we do know how many do not.
On the latest occasion a 34-year-old Frenchman was nabbed by the port customs service at the wheel of a vehicle stolen in France, but fitted out with false German plates.
The incident took place on the 19th of May during embarkation for the Volcán de Tinamar. The Guardia Civil were checking the car documents against the online database and discovered that the car had been stolen in France last year and that the car documents had been obtained in blank and then filled out to cover up its origin.
