A 38-year-old man from Bulgaria was arrested in Fuengirola at the beginning of the month, accused of murdering his mother and killing two of her cats.

The incident occurred on the 6th around 13.00h in a flat on Calle Isla Inca in the centre of town. According to the police, the woman received 13 stab wounds which resulted in her death.

The suspect also allegedly killed two of her cats, chopping up each one into four pieces, not long before killing his mother.

Although the reason for the killings is not clear, it is believed that the man is suffering from mental issues. In fact, two days after his arrest, he was examined and the decision was made to detain him in a mental institution, as in his present mental state it would be futile questioning him.
