Surprisingly, given the recent flooding in the municipality, of the three coastal towns, Salobreña was least affected by Saturday night’s storm.
Strong waves reached the paseo, throwing heaps of cane up onto the road and path, together with other rubbish that had been brought down to the beach by the ramblas and Rio Guadalfeo.
Fortunately, no structures were damaged in the beach area, unlike the year when the eastern end of the paseo was severely damaged.
Salobreña is keeping its collective fingers crossed that the forecast rains this week will not prevent the town preparing itself for Semana Santa.
