The Policía Nacional are investigating the theft of 1.6 km of copper cable that was to be wired into a Motril football-ground lighting system.
According to the Motril Town Hall, the theft took place between 23.00h on Monday the 5th and 19.00h the next day, during which time persons unknown entered the Puntalón football ground after breaking through the 2-metre-high perimeter fence in order to steal all the copper cabling that was to be used for the ground’s lighting infrastructure.
The 1,600 metres of copper cabling, which was ready to install via six manholes, has a market value of 2,529 euros. There was no CCTV security coverage.
